Sushmita Sen is all set to grace the OTT world once again with a new web series. The actor, who last starred in the Disney+ Hotstar series Aarya season one and two, will be next seen in a much-awaited biopic. The biopic will surface the life story of a Mumbai-based transgender activist, who has earned a name for herself through her social commitments, and her fight for transgender rights. The series will stream on Viacom 18's OTT platform Voot.
In the biopic titled Taali, Sushmita Sen will be playing the role of transgender activist Gauri Sawant, a social worker who has had an inspirational journey including her share of struggles. The multiple-episode series will bring to the screen the magnificent life of Sawant, and how she became the country's first transgender mother.

Sushmita Sen Gauri Sawant Biopic
Sushmita Sen took to her social media to make the announcement and share the first look. "Nothing makes me prouder and more and more grateful than to have the privilege of portraying this beautiful person and bringing her story to the world," she wrote.
Gauri Sawant is the founder of a trust called Sakhi Char Chowghi, which she started in the year 2000. The trust works towards helping transgender people and people with HIV/AIDS. Her initiatives aim at fighting for transgender rights, promoting safe sex and assisting transgender people with necessary counselling. Sawant is also the goodwill ambassador of the Election Commission in Maharashtra.

In 2008, Gauri Sawant adopted a girl named Gayatri after her mother died of AIDS. The biopic will also show a mother-daughter bond that Sawant and Gayatri share.
Taali is written by Kshitij Patwardhan and is directed by filmmaker Ravi Jadhav, known for helming some big Marathi films. Triple Ace Entertainment and GSEAMS productions are producing the biopic alongside Viacom 18.
Sen marked her digital debit with Ram Madhvai's Aarya, which earned her massive praise after the family-drama crime web series did exceptionally well on OTT earning a nomination at the International Emmy Awards for its first season.
With several projects in the pipeline, Sushmita Sen will be pleasantly seen in diverse roles across platforms in the coming times. Apart from Aarya season 3, Sen will be starring in another biopic for the big screen produced by Mansi Bagla of Mini Films and Soham Rockstar Entertainment.
