Miss Universe 1994 winner and actor Sushmita Sen said that her two adopted daughters Renee and Alisha are not the reason she has not gotten married. She added that she came close to getting married three times but God "saved” her.
In an interview with actor and author Twinkle Khanna, Sushmita Sen spoke about her personal life. When asked about her love life and how she had broken stereotypes when she adopted a child while remaining unmarried, Sen spoke on how, after she adopted her first daughter at the age of 24, there was no man who came into her life and did not know that her priority was her daughter. She said that she did not expect anybody to share the responsibility of her children with her, but nobody could ask her to step away from it either.
Sen added that while she came close to getting married thrice but “God saved” her and her kids by protecting her from getting “into a messy affair”. She also ">said, “I can’t tell you what disasters followed with their respective lives.”
Sushmita Sen Daughters Have Nothing To Do With Her Marital Status
When asked if adopting two daughters made getting married difficult, Sushmita Sen said that the fact that she has not married has “nothing to do with my kids”. Sen added that the only reason she was not married was that the men she met “were a let-down”. According to her, “It had nothing to do with my kids. My kids were never in the equation, if anything they’ve been very gracious.” Sen’s children accepted the people in her life with “open arms” and gave everybody an “equal measure of love and respect”.
In 1994, Sushmita Sen became the first Indian to win the Miss Universe pageant. She had also been crowned Femina Miss India that same year and began working as an actor following her wins. Sen is know for her roles in films like Main Hoon Nah, Aankhen, and Maine Pyaar Kyu Kiya?
In 2020, she made her OTT debut with the thriller web series Aarya that was both loved by the viewers and critics. Season 2 of the series was released in 2021.
