Veteran actor and noted classical dancer Sudha Chandran recently shared on Instagram that she is always stopped by airport authorities who asked her to remove her prosthetic leg during security check. Chandran addressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi in her post requesting him to issue special cards for senior citizens.

Chandran lost one of her legs in an accident at the age of 16. After rehabilitation, Chandran returned to dancing with help of a prosthetic foot and has represented India globally as a classical dancer. A well-known film actor, Chandran is a popular name on television, having played the infamous Ramola Sikand on hit soap Kaahin Kissii Roz.
Chandran began her video by introducing herself to the Indian Prime Minister. "Good evening, this is a very personal note that I want to tell to our dear Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, this is an appeal to the central government," she said, adding that she was an actor and dancer by profession, who has danced with an artificial limb and created history and made her country very proud of her.
The 56-year-old artist added that every time that she travels for professional purposes, she is stopped at the airport and when she requests the Central Industrial Security Force officers to do an ETD (Explosive Trace Detector) for her artificial limb, they still want her to remove her prosthetic and show it to them. "Is this humanly possible, Modi ji? Is this what our country is talking about? Is this the respect that a woman gives to another woman in our society?" Chandran asked.
Chandran had captioned her post, "Totally hurt ....each time going thru this grill is very very hurting....hope my message reaches te state Nd central govt authorities....and expecting a prompt action ....."
Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia responded to Chandran in the comments section of her post, writing, "I’m sorry to hear this, Sudha Ji. This is disturbing. Nobody should have to go through this." Scindia further assured the actor that he will personally look into the issue and try his best to resolve it for good.
