Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 is currently filming in Atlanta with Tom Holland in the lead role. Based on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s book, the third solo Spiderman film will have various elements introduced in Avengers: Endgame. The film will also welcome back characters from previous films in the franchise. Seems like the makers are leaving no stone unturned in attracting the audience.
It is reported that actor Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus), Kirsten Dunst (Mary Jane Watson) and Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker) are all set to return. The Hollywood Reporter said that Alfred was spotted on set a few weeks ago. His presence will connect the first iteration of the Spider-Man series, which had Tobey Maguire as the lead. Benedict Cumberbatch will appear in the film as Doctor Strange.

According to Collider Andrew, who abruptly departed the series after disagreements with Sony, and Kirsten, who played MJ in the Tobey-led series, will return. It also adds that Tobey’s return depends on whether he is able to arrive at an agreement with Marvel and Sony. Emma Stone, who played the love interest Gwen Stacy in the Garfield series could be featured as well. However, it depends on her pregnancy. Jamie Foxx will also return as Electro.
JK Simmons has already been introduced as a new version of J Jonah Jameson, in Spider-Man: Far From Home. The new casting announcements hint at the actors repeating their original roles, and not new versions.
Jon Watts is the director of the movie. However director Sam Raimi has also been recruited to helm Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Raimi has previously contributed to all three Maguire Spider-Man movies.
