Sonam Kapoor To Perform At King Charles III's Coronation

Sonam Kapoor is set to perform at King Charles Coronation Concert on May 7. She will be joined by a number of actors and musicians including The Pussycat Dolls and actor Tom Cruise.

As per a Variety source, Kapoor will deliver a spoken word performance to introduce the Commonwealth virtual choir. The actor currently resides in London with her husband Anand Ahuja and their son Vayu.

King Charles III's Coronation will mark the Bollywood actor's debut in a royal capacity. Sonam Kapoor is the only Indian celebrity to attend the coronation. She will be joined at the event by Hollywood stars, musicians and one fictional character, a childhood favourite, Winnie the Pooh.

Cruise was invited to Queen Elizabeth II's 80th birthday party at Buckingham Palace in 2006, Winne the Pooh attended Princess Diana's burial in 1997, and Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger took part in a pageant honouring Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee last year. However, Kapoor has never been there and it will be her first visit.

In a recent press release, it has been heralded by Buckingham Palace that it was glad enough to circulate further information on the ceremonial, festive, and public activities that would commence from Saturday, May 6, to Monday, May 8, 2023 over the course of Coronation Weekend,

The Archbishop of Canterbury would be presiding over the service. As was previously stated, the Service "will be rooted in long-standing traditions and pageantry while reflecting the Monarch's role today and looking towards the future," according to a statement from Buckingham Palace.

Sonam was recently in the headlines as well when she was seen in Mumbai watching an IPL cricket match with Apple CEO Tim Cook. Kapoor tweeted, "Thank you so much for a night to remember," about Tim Cook and the Apple CEO retweeted Kapoor's comment.
