8 Things to Know About Comedy Thriller Sky Rojo

Sky Rojo: The soon-to-be-released Spanish series Sky Rojo has made the current buzz with the trailer and its linkage with the series Money Heist.

La casa de papel, or known as Money Heist in English proved itself to be the most-watched Netflix series in the non-English category.

The creators of Money Heist have now announced their new series called Sky Rojo on the same platform.

1. The three ‘night workers’

The series is a fast-paced one and potentially shows the cat and mouse chase. Sky Rojo follows Coral, Wendy, and Gina, who work together at a sleazy nightclub and brothel named Club Las Novias, trapped under the thumb of their pimp and his henchmen. This is between the three-night workers and their previous boss.

2. The main cast

Lali Espósito, Yany Prado & Verónica Sánchez are playing the main roles of Wendy, Gina and Carol respectively.

3. Official Synopsis by Netflix

It reads: “Coral, Wendy, and Gina go on the run in search of freedom while being chased by Romeo, their pimp from Las Novias Club, and his henchmen, Moises and Christian.

“Together, the women embark on a frantic, chaotic journey during which they must face dangers of all kinds and live every second as if it were their last.”

4. Connection with  Money Heist 5?

Moises, the right-hand man of Romeo, has been rumoured to be in Money Heist 5. Moises is also said to be Tokyo's new lover.

5. A season 2 already

Even though season 1 of Sky Rojo hasn't been released yet, the creators have already planned a season 2 for the same.

6. Filming Location

Alex Pina, creator of the show told FormulaTV, "It is a very Tarantinian series (…) in real-time, that travels through several countries (…) it is a bet to break some border in narrative terms and to do experiments as we always try to do. In the end, there are to advance in each series." The series has been shot in mainland Spain and the Canary Islands including the island of Tenerife.

7. Runtime

Money Heist usually runs for 45 mins per episode. Though the creators have kept it short in the upcoming series to 25 mins.

8. Release date

Episodes 1-8 of season one of Sky Rojo will hit Netflix around the world on March 19th, 2021 at 12:01 AM PST. The recent trailer suggests that the show won’t shy away from sex, drugs, and violence.
