Krishnakumar Kunnath, the playback singer popularly known as KK passed away on 31 May 2022 at the age of 53. Doctors suspect that KK had a cardiac arrest that caused his sudden death. KK leaves behind his wife Jyothy Krishna and his two children, Nakul Krishna Kunnath and Taamara Krishna Kunnath.
As fans mourn KK's untimely death, an old post of Jyothy Krishna is going viral on social media. In 2020, she painted a picture of KK performing on stage.
Singer KK Painting Made By Wife Jyothy
Jyothy is an artist and on 12 July 2020, she posted an image of her painting of KK performing on her Instagram account. In her post, she mentioned that her friends Sindhu and Kapil had commissioned her for the art.
She added that “I had captured this moment when I saw K performing in Leicestershire a few years ago”. Regarding her usage of colour, she said that “the energy he exudes with his voice could only be described with colours”.
KK and Jyothy had been married since 1991 and had met when they were both in class six. In an episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, KK revealed that he had only dated one woman in his life, his wife. KK also spoke about how he took up a sales job to marry her as he was unemployed. He worked as a marketing executive for three months before he pursued becoming a singer.
Before KK’s rise to fame and his big break in 1994 as a singer, he was doing multiple advertisements and jingles in Delhi. Jyothy encouraged him to shift from Delhi to Mumbai. KK had said that “My wife Jyothy became the reason for me to move to Bombay”.
In 1999, KK launched his debut album Pal. From that album, the songs 'Pal' and 'Yaaron' became popular. He is best known for singing ‘Tadap Tadap Ke Is Dil Se’, ‘Aankhon Mein Teri’, ‘Piya Aaye Nah’, 'Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai', 'India Wale' and ‘Tu Jo Mila’.
KK received a South Filmfare Award and six Filmfare Awards nominations.
