Born on July 6, 1985, Shweta Tripathi had a diverse upbringing from being raised in the picturesque Andaman and Nicobar Islands to living in a metropolitan city like Delhi. Shweta's graduation from the National Institute of Fashion Technology was near when she had a change of mind and thought of pursuing acting instead. In that last moment switch, her father gave her the courage to take a new direction when she was almost through it. However, starting out in the industry wasn't easy for her like many people who came to Mumbai with the same dream.

Shweta did different jobs as a magazine photo editor, associate director and production assistant. In 2008, Shweta quit her magazine company job and founded All My Tea Productions, her own theatre company as a step toward pursuing her passion. The theatre organised light-hearted comedy plays that featured today's famous actors like Sayani Gupta, Nakuul Mehta and Jim Sarbh that were Tripathi's acquaintances. However small the step was, it was still significant to pave the road further.

The role that brought her to the notice of the audience was when she starred in a supporting role in Disney's 2009 teen drama Kya Mast Hai Life. She later went on to appear in various advertisements and soon became a frequent face on TV screens yet not so significant. Shweta soon got a chance to star in the 2011 movie Trishna alongside Frieda Pinto. She was later seen in the movie Sujata playing the younger version of the protagonist. However, she still had a long way to go and it wasn't until 2015 that she came to the limelight.

Movies That Changed Shweta Tripathi's Career Graph

Masaan, the 2015 movie by Neeraj Ghaywan was a turning point in Tripathi's career and her role as Shaalu Gupta got really famous. It seemed that playing the small-town girl and her sweet little affair and tragic love story came naturally to her that was a perfect display of the conditioning she got while working on herself all those years. She also won the Best Supporting Actress award at Zee Cine Awards for the movie.

In 2017 came Haraamkhor, another game changer for Shweta where she plays the lead role of Sandhya, a school-going girl who has an illicit affair with her teacher. With Nawazuddin Siddiqui being in the lead role opposite Shweta, she had a chance that his on-screen presence might overshadow her. However, Shweta managed to leave a mark in this dark romance drama that received positive reviews from the audience.

Karan Anshuman's 2018 action crime thriller Mirzapur gave Shweta a new identity as Golu Gupta who was initially introduced as a simple yet confident and bold college student but when her lover and sister get killed by Munna, she turns violent and dark and sets on a revenge journey. Her acting and performance were what made everyone realise her potential and became one of her best shows to date.

Her role of Enakshi Dasgupta in the 2019 social comedy Gone Kesh was a successful experiment and a brave attempt to highlight the struggles of an aspiring dancer suffering from alopecia who starts losing her hair rapidly because of the condition. The movie received good reviews from the audience and critics and got her into the names of the few experimentalist actors of B-town. For a long time, Shweta has starred alongside many other great actors but this time, the entire focus was on her and she successfully played the showrunner for the film.

Shweta went on to perform significant roles in shows like Raat Akeli Hai, Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein, Made In Heaven, Rashmi Rocket and Cargo. With her seemingly sweet and bubbly appearance, she constantly got the opportunity to play deep, layered characters and by this time, she was already an OTT-approved and critically acclaimed actor shining in her own bright ambience. Shweta was last seen in Hostar's social thriller Escaype Live and will next be seen in Vipul Mehta's Kanjoos Makkhichoos alongside Kunal Khemu, Alka Amin and Piyush Mishra.
