Dr Shriram Nene is a Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon, who also happens to be the husband of Indian actor, producer and dancer Madhuri Dixit Nene. 

Born in London, and raised in the United States, Dr Shriram Nene lives with his family in Mumbai in India. The couple has two sons Arin and Ryan. Today is Dr Nene's Birthday and his wife Madhuri Dixit wished him on Twitter with this post:

Dr Shriram Nene

Dr Nene, who is also a healthcare innovator, an adventurer, and a sports enthusiast, is the son of Indian immigrants who had left India in 1962. According to his website, he is on a mission to improve lives and life expectancies by reimagining healthcare through media and technology. “The goal is to walk with everyone and help them develop their own healthcare journey,” says Dr Nene.

Career life

Dr Nene took a Scholars Program in Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis where he completed his undergraduate work in 3.5 years. Subsequently, he pursued a career in medicine from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1993. Additionally, Nene trained in General Surgery and did a Vascular Surgical Research Fellowship at the University of California in Los Angeles. After completing his training, he practised in Denver as a board-certified Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon. Moreover, he specialised in mitral valve repair and endovascular aortic surgery.

Professional life

Inspired by renaissance thinkers and investors like Leonarda Da Vinci, Tesla, and Einstein, Dr Nene developed a passion for science and technology at an early age. He was just 13 when he taught himself programming on Apple II and used these skills to create a computer software company by the age of 15. As the president of the school computer science club, he taught programming to other students as well.

He was recognised for his hard work with scholarships from Rockwell International, Washington University Scholars Program in Medicine, Fluor Daniels Engineering, University of California Berkeley merit scholarship including an award from the Independent Press-Telegram for business entrepreneurship that was presented by Ray Bradbury.

In 2011, Dr Nene used his computer talent and reached 7 billion people with his knowledge of health and medical care. Currently, he is developing “Pathfinder Health Sciences,” a medical platform committed to improving lifestyles and lifespans.

Personal life

In 1999, Dr Shriram Nene got married to Madhuri Dixit. The couple secretly tied a knot in the US, away from the hustle and bustle of Dixit’s stardom in India. The news was revealed to the media a day later on October 18, 1999, by Dixit’s manager.

For the next years after their marriage, the duo stayed in the US where they led a simple life, away from the stardom that Dixit earned in India. However, the couple is now living in Mumbai with their two sons Arin and Ryan.
