From 'Mai' To 'Bridgerton', What Are The Shows Trending On Netflix?

This week has been particularly interesting considering the influx of content both online and offline. The amount of content is busy to keep anyone busy on weekends and weekdays equally. Today seems to be a mix bag day on Netflix, shows from the various genres like crime, thriller, drama and romance seem to be on the trend. Basically, there is one for everyone to pick and obsess on.

It also ensures a good marketing strategy for the online platforms as shows soon become a talking point, thus making them more watched. This week, we saw Twitter and Instagram go gaga about Sakshi Tanwar's flawless performance in Mai.

Not just that, Korean drama fans also had a field day as they swooned over Business Proposal and rewatched All of Us Are Dead to mentally prepare for its upcoming season. A new show that became the talk of the town was Anatomy Of A Scandal. Mai 

The show was released on an online streaming platform on April 15 and since then has been much talked about. The show is about a 47-year-old mother and wife, played by Sakshi Tanwar, who loses her young daughter in an accident. She later figures out that it was a staged accident and a pre-planned murder, from there starts her journey to uncover the truth behind her death and to seek justice for her deceased daughter.

Apart from Tanwar, the cast includes Raima Sen, Wamiqa Gabbi, Vivek Mushran and Seema Pahwa amongst others. It is created by Atul Mongia and Anshali Lal.

Anatomy Of A Scandal

This drama miniseries is about a Parliamentary minister James Whitehouse, who was once a happy married man with a loving family but ever since a secret comes to light, things change. Sophie, the wife of James, finds out that he has been having an affair with an aide, after this news goes public, their lives blow up and she is forced to deal with the situation.

The first episode was released on April 15 and the cast includes Sienna Miller, Rupert Friend, Michelle Dockery, Naomi Scott and Ben Radcliffe, amongst others. It is developed by David E Kelly and Melissa James Gibson. It is based on a book by the same name by Sarah Vaughan. The show is directed by SJ Clarkson. It's trending number two on Netflix.

The Marked Heart 

It is about a happy couple--Valeria, played by Margarita Munoz and Simon, played by Michel Brown. They are happy and are celebrating their anniversary, and they have two kids. Life is perfect for these two until the tire on their car has a blowout. They slip and move away from an oncoming truck, only to hit the tree.

After this, Simon is unconscious and the men, who were in the truck come to help but all they do is pick up Valeria and drive away. One of them, on-call, says that they have a donor (referring to the woman). It is directed by Camilo Vega.

Business Proposal 

Comedy, colourful and smart, this South Korean drama will make you want to take chance at love and sass at the same time. But more than the love story, it's the friendship between Shin Ha-ri, played by Kim Sejeong and Jin Young-Seo, played by Seol In-ah. They are best friends and even go to the extent of one friend showing up on blind dates as a favour to another.

It is about two working women trying to find their own place and success at work while trying to fall in love. It is funny and has all the right elements of drama. It is created by Park Seon-ho, Han Sul-hee and Hong Bo-hui. All of the episodes of the show are out.

Bridgerton

Taking Indians to a British period drama? Craving for romance and strong dialogues? Watch Bridgerton. The second season of the show was released recently and there are talks about season 3 of the show coming out too. The second season showed romance between actors Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley.

Based in the Regency era in England, the second season was more diverse than the first one. It follows the premise of one of the eight Bridgerton siblings trying to find love in 19th century England. The second season had the Sharma sisters. It is based on book series by Julia Quinn.

Falling Into Your Smile 

The show is about the world of e-sports and a team called ZGDX OPL team. When one of the gamers suffers a hand injury, what falls next is a need to replace him with someone. It is an all-male team. In a parallel line, there is Tong Yao, who is a budding amateur gamer but she is obsessed with OPL.

When the team learns about her and the skills that she possesses, they intend to take her in as a PR stunt, since having a woman on board is not a common thing in the gaming world. Initially, the captain Lu Si Cheng is dismissive of her but gradually accepts her into the team. The cast includes Xu Xai, Cheng Xiao and Zhai Xiaowen, amongst others. It is directed by Qiu Zhongwei.

Yakamoz S-245

It is about a marine biologist Arman, played by Kivanc Tatiltug, who is in a small Turkish port town. A day after he takes a dive and pictures of the marine lives, his ex-girlfriend Defne, played by Ozge Ozpirincci visits him and she wants to commission him and the submarine built by him for exploration purposes. He disagrees to do so. But then he somehow gets himself in a battle to survive with the crew as a conspiracy surfaces. It is directed by Tolga Karacelik and Umut Aral.

Happiness 

It is a zombie drama, but not the usual kind. Here the zombies find redemption and can get better. They can also come back from the undead. It follows the lives of the residents of an apartment block who during the government quarantine have to deal with zombies in their building. It also has a budding romance and a hidden psychopath. The cast includes Han Hyo-Joo, Park Hyung-Sik, Jo Woo-jin and Lee Jun-hyeok, amongst others. It is created by Ahn Gil-ho and Han Sang-woon.

All Of Us Are Dead 

It is a web series about a gang of kids dealing with the zombie apocalypse set in South Korea. It is based on the Naver webtoon named Now At Our School, which aired from 2009 to 2011. Season one came out on January 28 and talks on making season two is on.

The main cast for the show included Yoon Chan-young, Cho Yi-Hyun, Yoo In-soo, Lee Yoo-mi, Kim Byung-Chul, Lee Kyu-Hyung and Jeon Bae-soo. The director of the show Lee Jae Kyo once said that season two will depend on the success of the first season. Officially, the next season's release date has not been announced although it's anticipated to be released in 2023.

All Of Us Are Dead

The reality show on selling real estate in the Los Angeles market looks glorious and one might be interested to watch it, even if they are seas apart from where the show is based at. It is about cutthroat fights between the agents as they fight over clients and properties. It follows the drama at the Oppenheim Group, where the agents sell real estate to affluent buyers.
