Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga stars Pankaj Tripathi in the leading role as Gangaram, the sarpanch of a small struggling village who is ready to sacrifice himself for the sake of the villagers. Tripathi is joined by Sayani Gupta who plays the role of Tripathi’s wife who does not approve of his plan to sacrifice himself and Neeraj Kabi as a poacher.

To save his village from poverty, Tripathi’s character plans to be mauled to death by a tiger so that the village can claim compensation of Rs 10 lakhs from the government.

Reviewers opine the film could have tackled topics such as poverty, effects of urbanization, and man-animal conflict better and that the film fell flat due to the dialogue and levity.
