He was the heart throb of the Bollywood and I'm sure it would have broken many hearts when the wedding was announced. Today, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput are the 'IT' couple of the industry with their marriages blossoming. They have two kids today, named Zain and Misha.

It was surprising for his fans that Shahid was getting married to someone outside the fraternity. However, Mira Rajput today is a household name, who has gained fame by her funny social media posts. Mira was 21-years-old and a graduate from LSR College in Delhi when she got married to the star. They had met through a religious group their families followed.

Shahid reveals his first meeting with Mira

He first met Mira when he was about to begin his shooting for the movie Udta Punjab and he recollected their first meeting being odd. He was dressed up as his avatar 'Tommy' in Udta Punjab. “I recall getting out of the car in this avatar at Mira’s farmhouse in Delhi. Her dad came out to welcome his son-in-law to be. He saw how I was dressed and he surely thought – ‘God, what is my daughter getting married to.’ He barely looked at me, then whispered ‘Come inside’ and went away.”

They only met a few times before they got married. Shahid's only reaction was that she's too young. While Mira's only condition was for Shahid to have un-coloured hair on the wedding day. On July 7, 2015, Shahid and Mira got hitched in a private wedding ceremony, which was later followed by a wedding reception which was attended by the biggest names in Bollywood.

Mira's undeniable support for Shahid's work

Mira Rajput credits her not being a part of Bollywood as one of the strongest points about their marriage.

“I’ve never been into movies, which I think was a good thing because following that first chat when we actually got to know each other, it was for who we are…not for who others think we are.”

She has always been supportive towards Shahid when it comes to his wins and losses in Bollywood. After the 2015 film Shaandaar which failed to do well at the box office, Shahid revealed that Mira motivated him to move on quickly. After the recent success of his movie Kabir Singh, Mira congratulated Shahid on Instagram. In fact, their social media PDA, too, is loved by the loyal ShaMira fan clubs.

Today, Mira Rajput herself has acted in commercials and walked the ramp many times. Being a muse for Anita Dongre's collection, she insisted that Shahid too walk the ramp with her. She has built a name for herself despite being an outsider in the industry. Her campaign to clean beaches went viral on social media.
