Shah Rukh Khan on respecting girls: On Wednesday, actor Shah Rukh Khan conducted a #AskSRK session on Twitter. When a fan asked for tips to woo women from the superstar, he got schooled instead as Khan replied by underlining the importance of respecting women and girls.

A user asked the superstar about some tips to woo a girl and used the Hindi word "patana" to make his point. In response, the Dilwale actor wrote, "Start with not using the word ‘Patana’ for a girl. Try with more respect gentleness and respect." Check out his reply to the user here:

Another user asked Khan to advise teen girls who are insecure about their appearance. To this, he replied, "All girls have a beauty which is different from each other. Don’t compare...and remember you are unique."

Khan was conferred with an honorary degree, Doctor of Letters, by the prestigious La Trobe University, recognising his efforts to support underprivileged children, his dedication to the fight for women empowerment through his MEER foundation as well as his achievement in the Indian entertainment industry in 2019.
A year before that, he earned huge accolades for his powerful speech at the Crystal Awards ceremony organised by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. He had also won an award for his "leadership in championing women's and children's rights in India through his non-profit organization Meer Foundation". While accepting the award, Khan had said, "Men desexualise women only because they are scared."
Thanking the women in his life Khan said, "I thank my sister, wife and daughter for bringing me up well. They taught me the value of requesting and imploring a 'yes' from a woman instead of forcing it upon them."

The same year, Melbourne-based La Trobe University had announced a scholarship in the name of the actor Shah Rukh Khan, aiming to inspire female researchers from India.
“Aligned to Shah Rukh Khan’s leadership on humanitarian and social justice causes, this prestigious four-year PhD scholarship aims to inspire a female researcher from India to undertake research to help find solutions to the growing challenges of our time. The scholarship is being introduced in recognition of Mr Khan’s dedication to women’s empowerment, through his Meer Foundation,” the University claimed.

Khan once stated he advised his daughter, Suhana Khan, that if a guy comes to her acting like any of his popular romantic characters, ‘Raj’ and ‘Rahul', and says these words 'naam toh suna hoga’, he’s a stalker. Similarly, if a boy looks at her across a room at a party and says, ‘Aur paas, aur paas’, go kick him in the shins, he advised.
When he thanked women on Women's Day

Talking about how to strengthen relationships and behave with women in everyday life, he had told Indian Express, “Three things: Respect, respect, and respect. I really believe that. Some of my women friends, whom I have known for years, find me too formal at times. But there is no romance and love without respect.”
“Respect means equality, and I don’t mean the social media’s #equality. To me, equality is letting you know how weak I am, equality is asking you, can you take care of me? This is what I’ve done with my wife, and my women friends because I genuinely love them,” he said. Highlighting the importance of teaching boys about gender sensitivity, the actor had added, “I teach my 21-year-old son that disrespecting a person is not okay, and I don’t mean beating or the kind of things that #MeToo has brought out. I’m talking about basic respect.”
On the professional front, Khan was last seen in Aanand L Rai’s Zero in 2018. Currently, he is shooting for his next film Pathan which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in key roles.
