Shabana Azmi and Emma Thompson: Veteran actor Shabana Azmi is currently busy shooting for filmmaker Shekhar Kapur’s film What’s Love Got To Do With It? And, guess who is her favourite co-star on the sets? It's Hollywood star, Emma Thompson.
On Tuesday, Azmi took to Twitter and posted a photo on social media that working with Thompson was a "wonderful" experience. She praised the Academy Award winner for being a "generous" co-star. “It’s a wrap for #Emma Thompson. What a warm, generous costar she has been. I will cherish the wonderful times we spent together,” the versatile actor wrote alongside a photo of her and Thompson.

Sixty-one-year-old Thompson and 70-year-old Azmi will be seen together in a cross-cultural romantic-comedy What’s Love Got To Do With It? It also features Lily James of Baby Driver and Star Trek: Discovery actor Shazad Latif in key roles. It is written and produced by Jemima Khan.

In the recent past, Azmi has been focusing more on international projects like Halo. In January last year, the Arth actor had met with a critical accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and was rushed to the MGM Hospital in Navi Mumbai. Her husband, the eminent lyricist, Javed Akhtar was also travelling in the car. In a social media post, the veteran actor had mentioned, “It was at this time last year that i had my near-fatal Road accident, Thank You for the prayers of well-wishers around the globe, the security personnel who rescued me, Doctors and Staff of #Kokilaben Ambani Hospital #Tina Ambani that I am left with no trace of it. Deeply grateful (sic)."
She has appeared in over 120 films and a few foreign projects as well. Awarded with Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour of the country, she is regarded as one of the finest actresses of her era. Parvarish, Amar Akbar Anthony and Jwalamukhi are some of the movies the actress is widely famous for.
Two-time Academy Award-winning actor and screenwriter, Thompson, on the other hand, is best known for Nanny McPhee movies. She wrote and starred in both. She won an Academy Award for screenwriting in 1995 for Sense and Sensibility, in which she played Elinor Dashwood. She reprised her role as Agent O in Men in Black: International; and collaborated with Mindy Kaling for Late Night, which earned praise at the Sundance Film Festival in 2019.
