Shabaash Mithu Teaser Unveiled: Tapsee Pannu Shines Through as Mithali Raj

Shabaash Mithu Teaser unveiled today, by the makers and Actor Tapsee Pannu who will be starring in this biopic of the Indian Women’s Cricket team Captain, also considered one of the best women cricketers in the country, Mithali Raj. The movie is all set to follow the life of the Padma Shree awardee before and beyond the cricket ground.

The teaser showcases Tapsee as Mithali in a blue jersey, opening with a cheerful crowd in a houseful stadium cheering during a crucial match. Tapsee is seen prepping to arrive on the field as the commentator announces her arrival onto the ground, calling her one of the most consistent players in the history of women’s cricket.

Sharing the teaser on her Instagram, Taapsee wrote, “In this Gentlemen’s sport, she did not bother to rewrite history ….. instead she created HERSTORY! #AbKhelBadlega #ShabaashMithu Coming soon! #BreakTheBias #ShabaashMithu #ShabaashWomen #ShabaashYou.” The teaser provides an introduction to the Women’s cricket team captain, as the only Indian cricketer to score seven consecutive 50s in ODIs, a four-time captain of the World Cup team, and the youngest cricketer to score a Test 200.

On Women’s Day in 2021, the makers had taken to YouTube and shared a video of Mithali and Tapsee, where they inspired young girls to follow their dreams, talking about sports and the film industry respectively. The movie is produced by Viacom18 Pictures and is directed by Srijit Mukherjee. Written by Priya Aven, the movie will co-star Vijay Raaz along with Pannu.

The shooting of Shabaash Mithu reportedly wrapped on November 9, 2021, and the scenes were reportedly shot in real locations, like the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Tapsee, who has always been a sports enthusiast, and has portrayed strong female characters in all of her movies, was thrilled and has been taking rigorous training to make justice to the role. Tapsee Pannu, reportedly trained under Nooshin Al Khadeer, a former cricketer and a friend of Mithali to get the character right.

No release date has been announced yet, but the teaser sure promises a glimpse into Mithali’s life. Shabaash Mithu marks Tapsee's second attempt at portraying the role of a sportsperson. Earlier she portrayed Rashmi in Rashmi Rocket. Pannu regularly shares behind-the-scenes (BTS) sneak peeks of the filming and her cricket practice sessions for the role, The"> trailer showcases, Mithali Raj shine through Tapsee Pannu, promising an impeccable performance in the movie.
