Sex Education 4 cast is getting an upgrade. Schitt's Creek actor Dan Levy has been confirmed as one of the newcomers for Sex Education season 4 as it begins filming ahead of release next year.
The British dramedy follows the lives and loves of students at Moordale Secondary School and as the title suggests, it never shies away from all the drama that goes hand in hand with sexual intimacy.
Sex Education 4 cast update
Levy plays Mr Molloy in the forthcoming series, as revealed by Netflix on social media. Molloy is the Ivy League tutor of Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey). Season three ended with Maeve securing a place to study abroad at the prestigious Wallace University.
Also joining the cast is Doctor Who’s Thaddea Graham alongside Marie Reuther (Kamikaze) and newcomers Felix Mufti, Anthony Lexa, Alexandra James, Reda Elazouar, Bella Maclean and Imani Yahshua.
Returning cast include season favourites Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee-Lou Wood, Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Mimi Keene, George Robinson, Chinenye Ezeudu, Dua Saleh, Alistair Petrie and Samantha Spiro.
The new season will also see departure of some of the popular characters like Ola (Patricia Allison), Lily (Tanya Reynolds). Rakhee Thakrar who played teacher Emily Sands in the Netflix series, too confirmed that she won’t be returning for season four.
In an interview, Allison said: “I have absolutely loved being on Sex Education so much and playing Ola, but unfortunately I won’t be joining the team for season four. I’m so sorry to have to break that to you guys, but I’m just going to be doing some other little things. Some other opportunities have come up. I’ve been doing it for three years and I’ve genuinely loved it.”
Synopsis of Sex Education season 4
Netflix has revealed that the season four will follow the closure of Moordale Secondary. Instead, they will attend Cavendish Sixth Form College, which is teased as ‘a bit of a culture shock’ for our favourite students.
A season four synopsis reads: ‘Following the closure of Moordale Secondary, Otis and Eric now face a new frontier — their first day at Cavendish Sixth Form College. Otis is nervous about setting up his new clinic, while Eric is praying they won’t be losers again. But Cavendish is a culture shock for all the Moordale students — they thought they were progressive but this new college is another level.
Over in the U.S., Maeve is living her dream at prestigious Wallace University, being taught by cult author Thomas Molloy. Otis is pining after her while adjusting to not being an only child at home, or the only therapist on campus.’
Filming for Sex Education season four is currently underway in Wales and is expected to run until 2023.
