Serena Williams supports Meghan Markle: Tennis star Serena Williams tweeted in support of Meghan Markle, after her fiery interview with Oprah Winfrey. Markle and her husband, Prince Harry made some shocking revelations during this interview, following which Williams has called former a "selfless friend" who "lives her life - and leads by example."
In her tweet, Serena Williams said that Meghan Markle's words illustrated the pain and cruelty that she experienced. "I know first hand the sexism and racism institutions and the media use to vilify women and people of colour to minimize us, to break us down and demonize us, " Williams wrote.

"We must recognize our obligation to decry malicious, unfounded gossip and tabloid journalism. The mental health consequences of systemic oppression and victimization are devastating, isolating and all too often lethal," she further added.
During her interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle opened up on the reports of her tiff with Prince William's wife Kate Middleton. UK tabloids had reported that prior to Markle's wedding there was an altercation between the two which left Middleton in tear. Markle however said that it happened the other way around.
