Selfiee Movie: Plot, Cast, Trailer, Release Date; All You Need To Know

Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi have come together for the first time in the film Selfiee, a remake of the Malayalam film Driving License. The film is written by Sachy, the writer of the original story, and the screenplay and dialogues are done by Rishhabh Sharma. The Hindi remake is directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Star Studios in association with Dharma Productions, Prithviraj Productions, Magic Frames, and Cape of Good Films.

This will be both Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi’s first big release this year. The trailer for the film was released on Sunday by Star Studios on their Youtube channel. According to the trailer, the two actors promise a family entertainer film. Actor Akshay Kumar took to his Twitter handle to share the trailer of the film. He captioned his post, "Iss kahani ka villain toh pata nahi par hero selfie hai! (I don’t know who the villain of the story is, but the hero is selfie!)"

The ">trailer shows Akshay Kumar as Vijay Kumar, a Bollywood superstar, and Emraan Hashmi as Om Prakash, a police officer and his die-hard fan. Om Prakash and his son wish to click a selfie with their superstar. Om Prakash is so obsessed with the superstar that he even warns his wife, played by Nushrratt Bharuccha, that he’ll divorce her if she speaks ill of Vijay Kumar.

However, things go south when Vijay Kumar loses his licence and has to obtain a new one. While Vijay Kumar says he’ll get the licence anyhow, Om Prakash says that he has to follow all the rules like a common man to obtain his license. This leads to a feud between the two. The trailer promises comedy, drama, and action, making selfie a pakka family entertainer. Towards the end of the trailer, the two actors are shown dancing to Main Khiladi Tu Anari, a remake of the 1994 song of the same name.

Plot

Selfiee narrated the story of a superstar, Vijay Kumar (Akshay Kumar), who is known for his passion for driving but loses his licence and needs to get a new one. Om Prakash Agarwal (Emran Hashmi) is a cop who happens to be his diehard fan. However, after a misunderstanding, things go out of control, leading to a feud between the superstar and his fan.

Cast

Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi lead the movie, while Nushrratt Bharuccha, Tisha Chopra, Diana Penty, and Fahim Fazli are cast in supporting roles, among others.

Selfiee is a remake of the Malayalam movie Driving License, released in 2019. The original was directed by Lal Jr. and written by Sachy, with Prithiviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles.

On the professional front, Akshay Kumar will next be seen in Oh My God 2 with Tiger Shroff as well as the official Hindi remake of the national award-winning Tamil film Soorarai Pottru. Emraan Hashmi, on the other hand, is reported to play a negative role in Salman Khan’s Tiger 3.

Release Date

The film is all set to hit theatres on February 24, 2023.
