Seema Pahwa on Gangubai Kathiawadi: Actor Seema Pahwa, who is currently under home quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19, says that working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali is something very different from what she has been doing all these years in the industry.
Praising the filmmaker, she told in an interview that it was rewarding but she has never attempted a role like this before signing Gangubau Kathiawadi. The film is set for a theatrical release on February 25, 2022.
Pahwa in an interview with SpotboyE claimed that she had never "shown an inclination towards the kind of personality" she plays in the film. "Only a visionary like Sanjay Bhansali could have thought of me in that particular role,” said the Shubh Mangal Saavdhan actor.
She went on to laud Bhansali saying that every actor who "values acting" should work at least once with Bhansali because his "visual sense is unparalleled." Pahwa, who is known for her acting prowess and has acted in films like Bareilly Ki Barfi and Bala, praised his "aesthetics" saying that they are incomparable. He’s a perfectionist, she claimed.
"He brings out the best in every actor and technician. When he offered me a role, I was thrilled. But I had no idea how rewarding this experience was going to be. Now that I’ve worked with him once, I can’t wait to work with him again. I hope he casts me in another film," Pahwa added.
Earlier, she had praised her co-star Alia Bhatt, sharing a BTS story from the sets when the Raazi actor had saved a child actress from embarrassment. Pahwa said the child actor and Bhatt were working together at night and the little girl fell asleep during the shooting. “Alia ne ye zimedari apne upar le li. Jab dialogue bolna tha, wo usko zara sa hila deti thi aur bacchi dialogue bol jaati thi time pe (Alia took the responsibility of making sure that the child delivers her lines. She’d prod her.),” Pahwa had recalled the incident in an interview with Pinkvilla.
On the work front, Pahwa made her directorial debut with family comedy Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi. The film boasts of an exciting cast featuring actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vinay Pathak, Manoj Pahwa and Vikrant Massey.

The seasoned actor also said that she was tired of playing the same kind of roles again and again. “The same mother’s roles. The same small-town environment. Sometimes even the town used to be repetitive. It had all become a bit monotonous and tiresome for me. Gangubai Kathiawadi came along at the right time," she hailed.
She was last seen in the digital series Das Kapital Ghulamon Ki Rajdhani alongside Yashpal Sharma and Pratibha Sharma.
