Veteran actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik passed away early Thursday morning following a heart attack. He was 66. His close friend and actor Anupam Kher announced Kaushik’s demise on social media.

According to Kher, Kaushik was visiting a friend’s home in Delhi when he complained of uneasiness and told his driver to take him to the hospital. On the way, Kaushik suffered a heart attack around 1 am.

On his Twitter handle, Kher wrote, "I know that death is the ultimate truth, but never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would have to write about the demise of my best friend Sathish Kaushik. A sudden end to our 45 years of friendship. Life will never be the same without you, Satish! Om Shanti."

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui tweeted, "A wonderful actor with perfect comic timing, an amazing director, and a highly regarded alumnus of the National School of Drama. Left us too soon Satish Kaushik Ji! Much love and power to his family. Rest In Peace."

"Today the film industry has lost one of its finest. His memory will be a blessing to all those who knew and loved him," wrote actor Sunil Shetty, conveying his heartfelt condolences to the family.

Indian cricketer and former captain of the Women’s National Cricket Team Mithali Raj conveyed her deep condolences to Kaushik’s family and friends. "I was shocked to come across the news of veteran actor Satish Kaushik ji's passing away. He always brought a smile to our faces with his presence on the screen."

"I’m shocked and saddened beyond words at the tragic demise of one of my dearest friends, Satish Kaushik. He will be remembered for his versatile performances across different mediums," wrote actor Manoj Joshi, conveying his condolences to Kaushik’s family, friends, and fans.

Indian politician and Minister of Home Affairs, Amit Shah, wrote, "I am deeply saddened by the demise of actor, director, and writer Satish Kaushik ji. His contribution to Indian cinema, artistic creations, and performances will always be remembered."

Actor Kangana Ranaut, who has worked with Satish Kaushik, conveyed her condolences: "Woke up to this horrible news; he was my biggest cheerleader, a very successful actor and director, Satish Kaushik ji. He was a very kind and genuine man, and I loved directing him in Emergency. He will be deeply missed."
