Malhotra took to her social media handles to share the news with her fans. Talking about her new venture with the Times Of India, Malhotra stated that she had seen the original in Telugu and found it “intriguing and interesting”. “I really liked the concept of the film. When the film was offered to me, I immediately said yes,” said Malhotra.
Rajkummar Rao, who will portray the role of the cop, is also enthusiastic about the venture. The Stree actor believes that the project is exciting and is pertinent in today's environment. “As an actor, I'm constantly looking for opportunities to play characters I haven't had the chance to play before, and HIT provides me with that opportunity,” said Rao in a statement to The Indian Express.
Sailesh Kolanu, who will also direct the Hindi version of HIT, directed the original film starring Vishwak Sen and Ruhani Sharma in the lead roles. The Hindi adaptation is currently under pre-production. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Dil Raju, Krishan Kumar, and Kuldeep Rathore.
The directors plan to offer the Hindi version a similar feel on a broader canvas, as HIT is a massive investigative franchise down South. Malhotra and Rao have previously worked in Ludo, which released in 2020.
