Neha Kakkar: Singer Neha Kakkar recently offered financial assistance to lyricist Santosh Anand, which he has now refused to accept.
Anand is allegedly in a poor financial situation, which made the reality show judge make a donation of 5 lakh for him.
The popular singer broke down during the show Indian Idol 12 listening to the songwriter.
“I would like to give you Rs 5 lakh as a small gesture and would also like to request the Indian entertainment industry to give Santosh ji some work as he has been such a crucial part of our industry. It's our duty to help our colleagues in their bad times,” Neha Kakkar said on the show.
However, in an interview with Amarujala, Anand declared that he didn’t appear on the reality show to ask for help.
“Main atma nirbhar aur swabhimaan hoon. Main kisi se madad mangne nahi gaya tha. Duniya mein paisa hi sab kuch nahi hai. Pyar aur sammaan sabse zyada zaroori hai. Maine apne jeevan mein naam aur shauhrat ke saath logo ka pyar kamaya hai. (I am self-reliant and a dignified man. Money isn’t everything in the world. Love and respect is most important. I have earned name and fame along with people’s love in life.)”
Anand mentioned Neha Kakkar in his conversation to the daily too. “Woh dil ki bahut acchi hai. Main unse paise nahi leta, lekin unhone khud ko meri poti bataya, toh maine ye dakshina sweekar kiya, (She is good at heart. I wouldn’t have taken money from her but she called herself my grand-daughter therefore, I accepted the gift)” he said.
Indian lyricist Manoj Muntashir condemned social media users for calling the veteran songwriter a “beggar”. He accused them of hurting Anand’s self-respect.
However, Neha Kakkar’s husband and singer Rohanpreet Singh extended his support to the former. Singh took to Instagram to shower praises on his wife.

Santosh Anand has penned super hit songs like "Ek pyar ka nagma hai", "Zindagi ki na tutte ladi", "Main na bhulunga", "Mohabbat hai kya cheesi".
