Samrat Prithviraj OTT release date was announced by the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video. The period drama starring Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Manushi Chhillar and Sonu Sood in significant roles was released theatrically on 3 June 2022, after a long delay due to the pandemic.
Samrat Prithviraj is a Bollywood period drama based on the poem Prithviraj Baso written on the life of Prithviraj Chauhan of the Chahamana dynasty. Helmed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Samrat Prithviraj was reportedly a big-budget movie with around 200 crores. The movie has managed to make 85 crores at the box office. After the theatrical run for a month, the movie is all set to premiere on the OTT platform
Produced under the Yash Raj Productions' this film marked the debut of Miss World Manushi Chhillar. She plays the role of Princess Sanjogita, the female lead and love interest of Prithviraj Chauhan. In an interview, Manushi spoke more about the character. "I think the fact that people already have a perception and an idea of who she was and what she was like and you have to match up with that perception in your first film. I remember when I started out, people told me you are not going to be compared with a debutant, you are going to get compared with established actresses who have done periodic roles in historical films. I think that was a very big challenge for me," she said.

The streaming giant took to its official social media to announce the arrival of the movie on the platform. The post was captioned, "The Heroic tale of a fearless leader." The post revealed that the movie will release on the platform on July 1, 2022.
