Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been cast in the British adaptation of Arrangements of Love, a novel penned by Indian author Timeri N Murari. Samantha will be seen in the role of a bisexual female detective.
The film will be directed by British Academy Film and Television Awards winner Philip John, best known for his association with projects like Downton Abbey, Ashes To Ashes and Being Human. The project will be produced by Guru Films which is headed by Sunitha Tati. Samantha and Tati have previously worked together on the hit 2019 Telugu film Oh! Baby.
Known for her work in Telugu and Tamil cinema, Samantha was last seen in the second season of popular web series The Family Man which is headlined by actor Manoj Bajpayee.
Speaking to Variety, Samantha said that a whole new world opened up for her as she started her journey with Arrangements of Love, which has such an endearing and personal story. "I am excited to work with Philip John, whose projects I have closely followed for many years, being a big fan of Downton Abbey," she further said, revealing that her role is a complex character and it will be both a challenge and an opportunity for her to play it. "I cannot wait to get on set.”
She also shared the news about her casting on Instagram, along with a picture of herself and Philip. "I guess it’s not everyday you get to audition for a BAFTA award winning , critically acclaimed , director of your most favourite series 'Downton Abbey’ Jumping for joy that you picked me sir #PhilipJohn .. Thankyou @sunitha.tati @gurufilms1 for the opportunity.. cant wait to start this exciting journey !!" Samantha wrote in her post, also revealing that she had auditioned for this project almost 12 years after auditioning for her debut film Ye Maya Chesave.
Samantha will soon be seen in bilingual film Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, also starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara. The film will have a theatrical release in Tamil and Telugu language, in December this year.
