Actor Samantha Prabhu came out with her first statement after weeks of conjectures about her divorce with Naga Chaitanya doing rounds in the media. The actor slammed the people spreading false rumours about her and said that she will not let such things to break me.
Prabhu posted a signed statement on Twitter in which she said, " Your emotional investment into a personal crisis has overwhelmed me. Thank you all for showing deep empathy, concern and for defending me against false rumours and stories that are being spread. "
She wrote that people spread false rumours about calling an opportunist. People accused her of having affairs and that she did not want to have children which caused a rift in her marriage. Rumours about her 'abortions' were also spread.
The actor wrote, " A divorce in itself is an extremely painful process. Let alone me the time to heal, this attack on me personally has been relentless. "
In September, the actor had visited a temple with her team where a reporter started asking her questions about her divorce from Naga Chaitanya. Prabhu gave a firm reply and asked the journalist to be mindful of the space they were in at the time.
Ever since the reports of potential divorce between Chaitanya and Samantha Prabhu started to surface, their individual fans have been at a war on social media. The ones who admired the couple have been expressing disbelief and disappointment. According to Samantha Prabhu, she has been at the receiving end of the attacks. Many blamed her for the couple's divorce.
Actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Prabhu tied the knot on October 6, 2017, and then a day later married according to Christian rituals. Earlier this month, Prabhu had shared the news of the separation on social media.
She wrote, "To all our well-wishers. After much deliberation and thought Chay and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths. We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us."
She requested the fans, media and the well-wishers to support the couple during their difficult time and give them privacy to move on.
