Veteran actor Saira Banu made her social media debut on Instagram on the 2nd death anniversary of her late husband, Dilip Kumar. Saira Banu also shared a few couplets from Dilip Kumar's favourite Urdu poem.

78-year-old veteran actor Saira Banu made her Instagram debut this Friday, July 7, which also happens to be her late legendary actor Dilip Kumar's 2nd anniversary. The legendary actor died at the age of 98 on July 7, 2021. And to mark his death anniversary and in remembrance of her 'Kohinoor', Saira Banu penned a heartfelt note.
Saira Banu dropped throwback pictures of the couple and started her note with an Urdu verse that she says was Dilip Kumar's favourite "Sukoon-E-Dil Ke Liye Kuch Toh Ehtemaam Karoon, Zara Nazar Jo Miley Phir Unhe Salaam Karoon, Mujhe Toh Hosh Nahin Aap Mashwara Dijiyey, Kaha Se Chedoon Fasana Kahan Tamaam Karoon." Dilip Kumar earlier sang this ghazal in an interview to honour Kunwar Mahendra Singh Bedi' Seher'.
Banu then expresses her gratitude towards all the caring well-wishers and dearest friends all around the world who have overwhelmed the actor with all their love, remembrance, and respect for her late husband, Dilip Kumar, calling him her 'Kohinoor' which was also the name of Dilip Kumar's 1960 film Kohinoor.
She described the reason for the post expressing how on this day, at 7 am, her loved one "slid into deep slumber". She also added how Banu used to always call her actor-husband 'Sahib'.
Banu wrote another verse asking the almighty and hoping that her late husband shall react to it "Uth Apni Jumbish-E-Mizgaan Se Taaza Kar De Hayaat, Keh Ruka Ruka Qadam-E-Qayenaat Hain Saqi." She wrote that her entire world is still as he has moved on and that she implores him to stir awake so that her world shall come alive again.
Banu also expressed how to this day, she feels the presence of her husband with her, pinning her hopes of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel as she writes, "We will still walk the path of life together, hand in hand, one in our thoughts and being until the end of time."
Banu also described the late actor Dilip Kumar as an "iconic light" not just for her but for generations who lived by his great presence and personality.
Banu ends her note by informing her followers that her purpose on the social media app Instagram would be to share the life, thoughts, and vision of the late legendary actor Dilip Kumar. Her Instagram Bio reads, "Hindustan ke 'KOHINOOR' Dilip Sahib ke liye, Hamari zindagi ke andekhay aur ansunay kissey…" which hints that she will be sharing life instances of the actor couple's life and their thoughts.
Banu, within a few hours of her Instagram launch, received love from her fans, with over 3k+ fans and counting, while the post received more than 1600 likes and 77 comments. The fans are in awe and adore her love of her for her husband as one user commented, "Manifesting a love like this." while another comment read ", You will surely remind the new generation and teach again how to love, and what love is."

Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar were married for 55 years. Banu married Kumar when she was 22, while Kumar was 44 in the year 1966. She fell in love with Kumar when she was just 12.
Dilip Kumar, whose real name was Muhammed Yusuf Khan, made his Bollywood debut with the film Jwar Bhata in the year 1944 when Saira Banu was born. Kumar is a star from India's pioneer production house Bombay Talkies and has done numerous acclaimed films like Mughal-E-Aazam, Devdas, Ram Aur Shyam, and Mela, and was last seen in the 1980 film Qila. Has received the country's greatest awards Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, and Dadasaheb Phalke Awards, in honour of his work and was the first actor to win the Filmfare award in 1956 for best actor.
Saira Banu, on the other hand, started her career in Bollywood with actor Shammi Kapoor in the year 1961 with the film Junglee when she was just 16 years old and was one of the most loved actors in the golden age of Bollywood from 1960 to 1970s. Banu has given numerous hits like Aayi Milan Ki Bela, Bluff Master, Purab Aur Paschim etc.
