Saina Nehwal and Usha Rani: the real life bond they share

In 2018, Saina Nehwal won the gold medal at the Commonwealth games after battling a knee injury and she credits her mother for motivating her constantly. "More than my dad, she is my main force and keeps me going with her constant motivational talks and encouragement. You need someone who you can confide in. For me, it’s my mother. I tell her everything, starting from what is making me happy or bothering me. I’ve all my emotional talks with her, I am closest to her," Nehwal said to Hindustan Times.

Usha Rani was a Badminton player herself and represented Haryana. Saina chose to fulfill her mother's dream to become a national level Badminton player. The player further says, "My mother tells me that if others are doing it, then you can also do it. The confidence she gives me is tremendous and helps me face all the tough players."

Saina Nehwal mother Usha Rani played a very important role in shaping the shuttler as a go-getter

Saina Nehwal's elder sister Abu Chandranshu started playing Volleyball but couldn't continue for a long time because of Asthma. So Usha Rani wanted Saina to be strong. She is glad that her daughter lived up to her expectations. The two of them are so close that they share the same bed even now. Quite often, they also have little fights over the AC temperature. While Saina fears catching a cold, her mother insists on putting on the air conditioner for some time.

It's difficult for Saina to meet expectations at times but her mother helps her stay calm. She knows that her daughter can improve and achieve more. When she loses, all Usha Rani says to her is, "It's ok, let's start preparing for your next match."

When Saina Nehwal and Usha Rani are not discussing Badminton, they watch TV and films. Nehwal loves the food her mother prepares. The Arjuna awardee's mother tells Hindustan Times, "We watch TV and films. Hamare nok-jhok sabki tarah hi hain. Saina ko mere haath ka choley-puri, paranthe, methi-aloo bahut pasand hai."

Saina Nehwal and Usha Rani: what we can expect from the movie

In the trailer, we find Saina's (Parineeti Chopra) mother telling her that she should focus on making her path rather than thinking of walking on a path that's already made. As the trailer proceeds, we can see how her mother plays an active role in helping her achieve her dreams. The faith that a mother should have on her daughter has been well highlighted in the trailer and it is this idea that we would like to see developing throughout the course of the movie.

We know Usha Rani is a major reason behind Saina Nehwal's success.

It would be a treat to watch a film that focuses on the idea of a mother standing by her daughter through her difficulties and adversities and supporting her throughout her struggles.
