Russian Doll Season 2 release schedule is here, all set to return to our screens soon. This twisted time-loop comedy by Natasha Lyonne, first premiered in 2019 and has garnered popularity and critical acclaim.
This series follows the life of a 36-year-old Nadia (Lyonne), living in New York, whose life turns awry on her 36th Birthday. The Birthday party that ends fatally, puts Nadia in a twisted time loop. Stuck in a Groundhog Day-like scenario, she must repeatedly die in order to solve the mystery of her death. In the loop, she meets Alan played by Charlie Barnett, and then the two of them form a companionship trying to find an escape from the time loop.

Created by Lyonne, Amy Poehler, and Leslye Headland, this series was renewed for a second season in June 2019, right after its release in February 2019, on the OTT platform Netflix. It is made under Universal Television, Paper Kite Productions, Jax Media, 3 Arts Entertainment, Avenue A, and Shoot to Midnight and distributed by NBC Universal Television Distribution
The series went on to receive many awards and nominations, including Television Critics Association Award, Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Award, Art Directors Guild Award, and nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards, Saturn Awards, Gotham Awards, Satellite Awards, Cinema Audio Society Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Costume Designers Guild Awards, Writers Guild of America Awards, Nebula Awards, Hugo Awards, etc.
Season 2 will reportedly be set four years after Nadia's 36th birthday party, as shown in the trailer. In season 2, it seems like Nadia is enduring the same old fate of being stuck in a time loop- but this time in the space of a subway train. In the ">trailer, the time portal in the bathroom door from her party in season 1 is shown and Nadia is seen falling down a flight of steps in the subway, and later is seen stating: "When the universe f**ks with you, let it."
Revealing more on the season, the Netflix synopsis stated: "Discovering a fate even worse than endless death, this season finds Nadia and Alan delving deeper into their pasts through an unexpected time portal located in one of Manhattan’s most notorious locations. At first, they experience this as an ever-expanding, era-spanning, intergenerational adventure, but they soon discover this extraordinary event might be more than they bargained for and, together, must search for a way out."
Russian Doll Season 2 Release Schedule: When and Where to Watch
Netflix took to Twitter to announce the return of Russian Doll season 2 stating-"It’s about time. Russian Doll returns on April 20" . Stating more about the season Actor and Co-Creator Lyonne stated: "It is deep, and deeply off-the-wall.” The show is all set to return to Netflix on April 20, 2022, with seven episodes, marking one less than season 1 as per reports.
