RRR Creates History Again With This Win At Critics Choice Awards

RRR, which recently grabbed a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, made India proud again with an important win at the Critics Choice Awards 2023.

RRR Wins Critics Choice Awards
It was another proud moment for India when the father-son duo, SS Rajamouli and SS Karthikeya, collected a prestigious award for 'RRR' at the Critics Choice Award 2023 in the United States. The period drama film is the talk of the nation as it's generating not just great reviews from significant film personalities but also global stage and massive accolades at the top award ceremonies worldwide.

RRR, which recently grabbed a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, made India proud again with a crucial win at the Critics Choice Awards 2023. Filmmaker Rajamouli represented his entire team at the ceremony held at Fairmont Century Plaza, Los Angeles.

RRR Wins Critics Choice Awards

RRR was nominated in two categories, Best Foreign Language Film and Best original song for Naatu Naatu, at the awards that were held on January 15th. The film won in both the categories it was nominated for.  The film's director Rajamouli and his son Karthikeya walked up the stage to collect the awards.

The team at the Critics Choice Awards took to Twitter to make the announcement about India's win. "Congratulations to the cast and crew of the movie RRR - winners of the #criticschoice Award for Best Foreign Language Film"

Global Recognition

The fictional period drama is based on the life of two freedom fighters played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR. The film, which was made with a backing of a massive budget of around 550 crore rupees collected over 1200 crore rupees globally. It still continues to run successfully in some parts of the world.

The film's enigmatic star cast also includes Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Ajay Devgn, Alison Doody and Ray Stevenson among others.

Recently, Rajamouli tweeted about how he met filmmaker James Cameron and the latter showed praise for RRR and even spent some time analysing the film with him. "The great James Cameron watched RRR. He liked it so much that he recommended to his wife Suzy and watched it again with her. Sir, I still can't believe you spent a whole 10 minutes with us analysing our movie. As you said 'I'm on top of the world.'"

For an Indian film to be recognised globally on all platforms is a win in itself and the RRR team representing the Indian film industry with sheer pride showcases how far they've come in this cinematic journey.
