Roohi trailer out now: The trailer of the second instalment of the horror-comedy franchise Stree is out now. The film titled Roohi sees Janhvi Kapoor playing a girl possessed by an "evil spirit”. This "witch" supposedly abducts brides and desires to get married. Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma star alongside Kapoor in the film.
Rao and Sharma's characters seem to have no clue, as to what they have got themselves into and thus are stuck with a ghost, rather than what seems like kidnapping for ransom. The trailer of the film looks promising and doesn't hold back on jump scares.
Earlier today, in the Instagram post, Janhvi Kapoor shared the posters of the film, writing, “Aaiyega zaroor Iss Bhootiya Shaadi mein. #RoohiTrailerOutAt12pm, stay tuned. #Roohi in cinemas 11th March 2021!”
About the film
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Janhvi Kapoor spoke about Roohi and said it is “one of the most exciting, challenging, complicated, physically demanding and emotionally taxing roles that I’ve had the privilege of doing.”
Roohi is said to be the first ‘major’ Hindi film to hit the big screens after a dry spell caused by COVID-19 outbreak. It is directed by Hardik Mehta, who began his career as a writer in Hindi films and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, under the banner of Maddock Films production.
In a statement, producer Dinesh Vijan said, “At Maddock, we are all storytellers driven by our love for cinema in all its vibrant forms. While Stree was a genre-bending tale that gave audiences something never seen before, Roohi takes this vision a step further by offering the same brand of spine chilling scares and quirky comedy. With a partner like Jio Studios that shares our passion for the eponymous 'bada parda', we hope Roohi rekindles the audience's long standing romance with the silver screen. It is a film tailor made to be viewed at your nearest theatre." Roohi is slated for a big screen release on March 11, 2021.
