Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani: Filmmaker Karan Johar is all set to return to direction with a love story which is expected to release in 2022. The film, titled Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani will feature actors Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead.

The announcement about this project was shared by Alia Bhatt via an Instagram post on July 6. "An exceptional love story with my favourite people! Presenting - Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, directed by the one and only Karan Johar and written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan & Sumit Roy. All set to hit the screen in 2022!" Ranveer Singh too shared the teaser of his upcoming film on Instagram, writing, "A special announcement on my special day! Presenting - Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani along with my dazzling supernova Alia Bhatt, directed by the genre himself, kaleidoscopic visionary Karan Johar, & written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan & Sumit Roy. Coming to charm you in 2022!"
Reports suggest that the film will also see veteran actors Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi, who will play the role of Bhatt's grandparents. Jaya Bachchan has also been roped in the film to essay the role of Singh's grandmother. "Karan is looking forward to directing two of the most powerful actresses of Hindi cinema together for the first time. Jayaji and Shabanaji have some really intense scenes together. As for Ranveer and Alia, they are excited to be together after Gully Boy," a source told Bollywood Hungama.
On July 3, Bhatt had shared a series of pictures on social media, revealing that she has begun shooting for the film Darlings, which also marks her debut as a film producer. The film has been co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. Apart from Bhatt, the film also features Shefali Shah, Roshan Mathew and Vijay Varma in significant roles.
