NCB Charges Rhea Chakraborty For Purchasing Drugs In Sushant Singh Case

The Narcotics Control Bureau has charged Rhea Chakraborty with abetting and conspiring in the drug case related to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. According to the charge sheet filed by the government agency Chakraborty received and delivered small quantities of marijuana to Rajput

NCB can accuse Chakraborty, Rajput's former girlfriend, of being an aid in his "extreme drug addiction". Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging at his residence on June 14, 2020. His death caused major outrage among his fans. Despite being ruled a suicide, an investigation was opened into Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty and the role they might have played in the actor's alleged struggle with drug addiction.
The ongoing investigation was much in news two years ago, after the NCB summoned many celebrities including Sara Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone to uncover an alleged Bollywood drug nexus. Now the NCB has levelled a total of 38 charges against the 35 accused named in the charge sheet. NCB handed over the drafts to Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) which then provides details of the charges against everyone accused.

The draft explaining charges against the actor states, “That in pursuance of the aforesaid criminal conspiracy or otherwise, you accused no. 10 Rhea Chakroborty received many deliveries of ganja from Samuel Miranda, Showik Charoborty and Dipesh Sawant and others and handed over those deliveries to Actor late Sushant Singh Rajput and made payments for those deliveries at the instance Showik & Late Sushant Singh Rajput during the period March 2020 to September 2020.”

The charges are as follows,  8c-“production, manufacture, possession, selling or purchase, transport, consumption, import inter-State, export inter-State, import into India, export from India, except for any medical or scientific purposes.” Section 20- dealing with drugs in small quantities and rigorous imprisonment for a term extending to six months, or fine extending to ten thousand rupees, or both. Sections 27A 28- Punishment for bankrolling illicit traffic and retaining offenders and Sections 29 and 30- Punishment for abetment and criminal conspiracy. The accused is charged with drug trafficking and consumption of Ganja, Charas, LSD, Cocaine, and other substances. Further details are awaited.
