During the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2023, Rani Mukerji revealed about her miscarriage, as reported by Business Today. The actor disclosed that she had been pregnant for the second time in 2020 and sadly experienced a miscarriage when she was five months into her pregnancy.
The actor said, “Maybe this is the first time I am making this revelation because in today's world every aspect of your life is discussed publicly, and becomes an agenda for talking about your film to get more eyeballs. Obviously, I didn't speak about this when I was promoting the film because it would have come across as me trying to speak about a personal experience that would propel the film.”
Rani Mukerji Reveals She Had A Miscarriage In 2020
In her discourse, the actor recounted that the incident occurred during the year of the COVID-19 outbreak, specifically in 2020. Towards the close of that year, she became pregnant for the second time and unfortunately suffered a miscarriage when her pregnancy was at the five-month mark.
Rani Mukerji then reflected on the aftermath, sharing that Nikhil Advani contacted her with the story (Mrs Chatterjee vs. Norway) approximately ten days after her loss. Interestingly, while the personal experience of her own miscarriage wasn't a prerequisite, she found an immediate emotional resonance due to the film's timely alignment with her personal circumstances. Upon learning about the narrative, she was taken aback, as the notion that an Indian family would endure such circumstances in a country like Norway was beyond her expectations.
She mentioned that her director and producers are unaware of her personal loss, and she noted that they would be taken aback upon discovering this information through the interview.
Rani Mukerji and her filmmaker-producer husband, Aditya Chopra, have a daughter together. They were married in 2014, and their daughter was born a year later.
In terms of her work, Rani Mukerji was last seen in Mrs Chatterjee vs. Norway. Her filmography includes both hits and critically acclaimed movies such as Black, Hum Tum, Bunty Aur Babli, the Mardaani series, Saathiya, Talaash, and Hichki, among many others.
