The creators of the much-awaited spy-comedy film Mrs Undercover have released its official trailer today. Radhika Apte portrays the main character in the film who is perceived as a typical homemaker by her husband but secretly works as an undercover spy.
Apte expressed her immediate fondness for the storyline of Mrs Undercover due to its witty take on long-standing patriarchal beliefs regarding homemakers.
She spoke about how she learned to love her character as she portrayed her for her humour, awkwardness, compassion, and self-awareness.
The film emphasizes the familiar presence of a Durga in almost every household - a woman who silently performs her daily responsibilities and is undervalued mainly because she is considered 'only' a housewife.
"The film deftly questions our society's standards that favour men, but does it in a fun and creative manner," she said.
