Speaking of endings, another drug-filled thriller series coming to an end is Queen Of The South, which wraps up after five seasons. Having fled Mexico and built a drug empire even Walter White would be proud of, things are looking unstable with fires on all fronts for Teresa Mendoza, who was forced to seek refuge in America after her drug dealer boyfriend gets unexpectedly murdered.
This Spanish show is as addictive as it could get. While viewers were forced to wait for two years for the show's finale on the streaming platform, it could be coming to an end very soon. It is developed by MA Fortin and Joshua John Miller. The show first premiered on June 23, 2016, and has more than 60 episodes till 2021.
It is an adaptation of the telenovela La Reina del Sur which is taken from a book of the same name by Spanish author Arturo Perez-Reverte. On August 29, 2019, the show was renewed to have a season five but the production of the show was indefinitely delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The shoot began in the fall of 2020 and was scheduled to be out by 2021.

The cast includes Alice Braga as Mendoza, Peter Gadiot as James Valdez, who is Mendoza's mentor, lover and friend; Veronica Falcon as Dona Camila Vargas, who appeared from season one to three as Don Epifanio's estranged wife; Hemky Madera, Jaoquim de Almeida, Justina Machado, amongst others.
Season five was aired on April 7, 2021. It had ten episodes and ended on June 9, 2021. Season five of the show is action-packed and shows Mendoza on a run as there are people waiting to see her drug business crumble. In the trailer, we also see that the DEA is now involved thus indicating that this season will be no short of the twists and turns are thrown at the viewers.
Characters like Pote Galvez (Hemky Madera), Valdez (Gadiot), Alonza Loya (Nick Sagar) and Alejandro Barrios (Chicho) will be reprised, however, the viewers will miss is Tonny Parra, played by Julian Silva as he gets killed in an explosion in the finale of the fourth season.
