The first teaser of the Netflix film Qala was unveiled on April 10. The movie has been produced by Anushka Sharma and her brother's production house Clean Slate Filmz.
Qala is the second collaboration between Tripti Dimri and Clean Slate Filmz. She was first seen in the revisionist drama named Bulbbul. The movie Qala has been directed by Anvitaa Dutt. Apart from the teaser, the first looks of the film cast were also revealed. This is the first time that Irrfan Khan's son Babil Khan will be seen acting in a movie. Swastika Mukherjee is another actor cast in the film.
As per the official statements by the makers, the film is based on the relationship between a daughter and her mother. The director Anvitaa Dutt said, “Mother-daughter relationships are sacred and often complicated. Qala is a beautiful, heart-breaking story about a daughter who craves her mother’s love. "
Expressing her excitement over the film, she added, "I am ecstatic to have such incredible actors on-board and cannot wait for the world to discover the film with Tripti, Babil and Swastika. It's always a pleasure to partner with Clean Slate Filmz and Netflix as they believe in bringing to a life empowered stories like Bulbbul, and now Qala."
The producer Karnesh Ssharma talked Clean Slate Filmz's yet another collaboration with Netflix and said that they both share the same vision of telling stories that are "unique, clutter-breaking and heart-warming".
He added, "After the success of Bulbbul, we are happy to announce our second film association with Netflix for Qala."
Netflix India's Srishti Behl Arya said, "We are thrilled to reunite with them for Qala, and once again tell an intricate tale of a woman that we hope will resonate with many."
She added that they are excited to see Tripti Dimri back in action. She also mentioned Babil Khan and called him "the newest addition to the growing Netflix family"
