Taapsee Pannu Sued Over Temple Jewelry: Yet Another Actress Penalised For 'Dressing Inappropriately'

The Hindu Rakshak Sangathan in Indore has filed a police case against Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu for allegedly offending religious sentiments and propagating obscenity, police reported on March 27.

Police complaint against Taapsee Pannu:

The case was submitted by Eklavya Singh Gaur, convenor of Hind Rakshak Sangathan and son of BJP Legislator Malini Gaur. He stated that the actress released a video on her Instagram on March 14, 2023. This footage is from a fashion event when she was allegedly dressed inappropriately. As per the allegation, the video features a fashion show showcasing an outfit that was considered indecent along with a necklace depicting Goddess Lakshmi Maa adorning the neck of the actor in question.

Gaur further said that this was a deliberate attempt to discredit Sanatan Dharma. The complaint accuses her of hurting religious sentiments and denigrating the image of Sanatan Dharma. The alleged incident occurred during the Lakme Fashion Week held on March 12 in Mumbai, where Taapsee was seen wearing a locket with Goddess Laxmi while walking the ramp in a revealing dress.

Taapsee Pannu is well-known for her outspokenness and openness on all matters; nevertheless, Taapsee has not commented on the complaint filed for damaging the image of Sanatan Dharma.

Taapsee Pannu was most recently seen in Anurag Kashyap's flick Dobara. Nevertheless, this film did not fare well at the box office. Taapsee will soon be seen in the film Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan, which will be released later this year. This film is directed by filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. Pannu is also collaborating with Shah Rukh Khan for the first time. It remains to be seen how wonderful the combo of both can be at the box office.

In a separate case, BJP leader Chitra Wagh filed a complaint against actor Uorfi Javed for engaging in public nudity on Mumbai's streets. Their fights became quite public and engaging. Recently, Urfi filed a complaint against BJP politician Chitra Wagh at the Maharashtra Women's Commission. She has recently spoken up about how people have been criticising her for the outfits she wears and how she has received threats from several of them.
