Actor Payal Ghosh's Revelations Stir Up Controversy: 5 Things To Know

Actor Payal Ghosh recently gained attention through her tweet on the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) as she proposed to marry the Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami after his spell-bounding performance in ICC World Cup 2023. The actor has once again been in the limelight with her claims.

Ghosh made a few revelations concerning some former Indian cricketers. Here are five statements she made that have the internet buzzing.

On December 1, Ghosh reportedly made some sensational claims on her X handle stating she has been in a relationship with a former Indian team cricketer Irfan Pathan and also alleged that former cricketer and now politician Gautam Gambhir used to regularly give her "missed calls" during her relationship with Pathan. The actor also made various claims involving actor-producer Akshay Kumar and other celebrities, whilst also bringing up her rape accusation against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.

Payal Ghosh Claims Dating Cricketer Irfan Pathan

Ghosh shared a throwback picture on her X account with cricketer Irfan Pathan claiming he was the only guy she loved and fell ill after they broke up. The Tweet has now been deleted from her account.

Ghosh also gave details about her relationship to Pathan claiming they started dating in 2011 while Pathan got married in 2016.

How It All Started?

The series of controversial statements started with Ghosh joking about wanting to marry cricketer Mohammed Shami after his excellent performance in the ICC World Cup 2023. She then clarified it to be a joke stating her "one true love" to be only former cricketer Irfan Pathan whom she dated for 5 years. 

Alleges Gautam Gambhir And Akshay Kumar Were "After Her"

Ghosh also alleged that Gautam Gambhir gave her several "missed calls" when she was in a relationship with Irfan Pathan. She claimed that Pathan was well aware of these missed calls and he discussed the matter in front of her with other cricketers present including Yusuf Pathan, Hardik and Krunal Pandya at the time she had gone to meet Pathan in Pune during a domestic match in Baroda. 

Ghosh claimed that while Akshay Kumar was also wooing her, he never misbehaved with her and always treated her with respect despite being a big star.

Claims Against Anurag Kashyap Raped Her

Ghosh once again brought up her accusations against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual misconduct, alleging that he had forced himself on her during the shooting of the film Bombay Velvet. However, during an exclusive interview with India Today, Ghosh did not have any proof as the incident happened in 2014.

In September 2020, Ghosh accused the filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of rape on Twitter, post which the filmmaker reacted to the accusations by stating them to be "unsubstantiated claims" and condemning Ghosh for dragging his artists, other women, and the Bachchan family. 

After Ghosh mentioned actor Richa Chadha's name in many interviews claiming Chadha to have some involvement with the incident, Chadha filed a defamation lawsuit against Ghosh while Tapsee Pannu, Chadha's friend hailed her for fighting up. However, the case was later settled with Ghosh apologised to Chadha on "conditional terms".

Ghosh is an Indian actor and politician who has worked in several Telugu and Hindi films. She made her Bollywood debut in 2017 with the film Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi alongside veteran actors Paresh Rawal and late Rishi Kapoor. The actor was also seen in the famous Indian TV daily soap Saath Nibhanaa Saathiya.

She is also the Vice President of the women's wing of the Republican Party of India (RPI).
