When Is Panchayat Season 2 Releasing?

The show Panchayat is making a comeback with its second season. The first season included Neena Gupta Raghubir Yadav, Jitendra Kumar, amongst others and was widely applauded for the subject it chose - women sarpanch and their role in the political setting.

The first season was left at cliff hanger as Kumar's character meets a girl and spends time with her on the tank. The show revolved around Kumar's character who is an engineer but picks up a government job and gets posted in a village in Uttar Pradesh, Phulera. He thinks he will be able to manage the job while he prepares for MBA.

The show, directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra was a huge success. It bring to the fore the concept of Sarpanch Pati and how even if there is a woman sarpanch in a village, men tend to take hold of the power and she remains a shadow.

Sarpanch Manju Devi, played by Neena Gupta is a devoted wife and a mother. She stays at home and labours for her family. She is an elected representative but her involvement in the Sarpanch role is limited to her signing the documents. Rest all is handled by her husband, played by Raghubir Yadav.

As the episodes, progress and the plot thickens, the series on Amazon Prime shows Manju realising her role and job. In the end, she takes control of the position that she holds by hoisting the flag, an opportunity that she is never had in her tenure.

She is scared of the responsibility of being a village head because no one had ever opened that door for her or encouraged her to step in. The show premiered on April 3, 2020. In an interview with Rajeev Masand, Gupta had said, "I didn't think anyone will watch the series. But when I read that final episode's script, I just said yes to it promptly.

Last year, in October, Gupta had posted on her Instagram feed a video of herself dressed as Manju Devi and said, "Pranaam, Manju Devi agyi hai wapis apne gaon me Panchayat ka season 2 leke." She captioned it, "Pradhan is back just wait."

The confirmation on the fact that the show is returning with a second season is there however there has been speculation on when is it going to release. Reportedly, it is supposed to be out by early this year, however, no confirmation on the release date is available yet.
