1. The Kashmir Files (2022)

Joshi plays the character of Radhika Menon, a university professor who is a primary influence in the life of Delhi student Krishna (played by Darshan Kumar). Menon is shown to be pro-Azaadi or in favour of Kashmir's 'liberation' cause and dismissive of the Kashmiri Hindu exodus. Krishna, whose own family had to leave during the exodus, is guided by her opinions but soon learns the truth when he goes back home to Kashmir to fulfill his grandfather's last wishes.

2. Rita (2009)

Rita, based on a Marathi novel, is a multi-starrer with Joshi, Renuka Shahane, Jackie Shroff and Suhasini Mule playing central roles. Joshi steps into the shoes of the protagonist Rita, after whom the woman-centric film revolves. At a young age, Rita must make compromises that shape her years to come. Describing Joshi's character, director Shahane spoke in an interview back in 2009 about the independence she possessed. "She faced life full-on, with no half measures."

3. Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda (1992)

This Shyam Benegal film, based on a novel by Dharmavir Bharati, artistically intertwines social commentary and storytelling. Rajit Kapur in the lead narrates the story of three classes depicted by three women, one of whom is Joshi. She plays a high-society, rich woman, while actors ">Neena Gupta and Rajeshwari Sachdev personify the poverty-stricken and middle-class slabs. Benegal's distinct directorial sensibilities come through poignantly in this must-watch film.
