Actor Palak Sindhwani, known for her role as Sonu Bhide in the popular TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has issued an official statement accusing the show's makers of exploitation. This comes after Palak received a legal notice from the production, alleging she breached her contract.

In her statement, Palak clarified that the contract, signed five years ago, allowed her to pursue social media endorsements, and that the producers were fully aware of her activities.

Palak claimed the issues only surfaced after she resigned from the show in August, with the production delaying the approval of her resignation. "They sat on my resignation and suddenly started accusing me of breaching the contract," she shared in an interview with Bombay Times. 

She also revealed that despite raising concerns and seeking a resolution, the makers have made her exit from the show unnecessarily difficult. "This is nothing but exploitation after five years of working together," she concluded.

Another Legal Drama For Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah

The television show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah again made headlines for legal troubles in August 2024, as the makers issued a formal notice to Palak Sindhwani, who plays the character of Sonu Bhide.

According to The Times of India, Palak’s involvement in "third-party endorsements" without written consent may have violated her "exclusive artist" agreement, potentially harming her character, the production house, and the broadcasting platform, Sony SAB. The production team reportedly warned Palak multiple times about these violations, which they claim compromised the integrity of the show.

The series, produced by Asit Modi, has had its share of off-screen controversies. Previously, actor Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal filed a formal complaint against the producers for alleged inappropriate behaviour. Jennifer won the hearing in March 2024, resulting in Asit being ordered to pay her the remaining Rs. 5 lakh along with settling her outstanding dues. 

However, she expressed her dissatisfaction with the verdict, stating, "A woman's reputation is what matters most. It has been over 40 days, and I still haven't received the money I earned through my hard work on the show. Even after proving Mr. Modi guilty of sexual harassment, none of the three accused faced any punishment."

Moreover, the actor Shailesh Lodha, who played the titular character, engaged in a legal battle over unpaid dues, which he ultimately won in 2023. The situation surrounding Palak’s potential exit adds to the ongoing drama linked to this iconic show.
