The Pakistani actor Mahira Khan seen on the film Raees four years ago is returning to the Indian screen with Yaar Julahay.
Mahira Khan was seen with Shahrukh Khan in the movie Raees of 2017. After a gap of four years, she will be seen on Yaar Julahay which a series that seeks to revive storytelling. Khan will be seen featuring in the first episode of Yaar Julahay. The series would focus on dramatic readings that pay tribute to celebrated writers of India.
The series Yaar Julahay is meant to be a part of the 12-episode Zee Theatre series. It is expected to air on 15 May at 2 pm and 8 pm. Kanwal Khoosat, who has shared the directorial duties with Sarmad Khoosat says, “In each reading, we have maintained the integrity of the author’s voice even as we amplify it through the digital medium to reach as many people as possible.”
Guriya read by Mahira Khan
Mahira Khan would be reading Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi's classic story, 'Guriya.' Guriya is a doll of Bano who resembles her childhood friend Mehraan. Though Mehraan hates the doll, the love-hate relationship of the girls with the doll begins. The story takes an unorthodox twist with the doll in the centre.

Yaar Julahay also brings to life stories of legendary Urdu and Hindi writers such as Gulzar, Saadat Hasan Manto, Ismat Chughtai, Munshi Premchand, Amrita Pritam, Qurratulain Haider, Balwant Singh, Asad Muhammad Khan, Ghulam Abbas, Rajinder Singh Bedi, and Intezar Hussain. Among the readers are celebrities including Sarmad Khoosat, Churails actors Sarwat Gilani, Nimra Bucha, Yasra Rizvi, Fawad Khan, Sania Saeed, Irfan Khoosat, Samiya Mumtaz, and Faisal Qureshi.
Khoosat further adds, "We have interpreted Dastangoi in a contemporary way. There is live and recorded music, along with suggestive details that articulate the story’s theme."
