Sanya Malhotra Pagglait: The teaser of Sanya Malhotra’s next digital release titled Pagglait was released today by Netflix. The film is directed by Umesh Bist and produced by Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment and Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures.
Sharing the trailer of the film on social media, the lead actor of this dramedy, Sanya Malhotra wrote, “Emotions in this household are either running high or not at all. Pagglait, premieres 26th March, only on Netflix.”
The teaser suggests that the film revolves around a young widow who can’t shed a tear after the untimely death of her husband, Astik. We witness a conversation between Sandhya and her friend, where she confesses that she cried for three days after the demise of her cat. But this time, she feels nothing much at all.
Here’s what we know about the film Pagglait so far:
-Alongside Sanya, the film also stars Shruti Sharma, Ashutosh Rana and Raghubir Yadav in major roles.
-In a statement, the actor mentioned that getting into the skin of her character, Sandhya, didn’t require much preparation. "Though I did do a lot of prep before the shoot, sometimes with some characters, your thought patterns change. Unknowingly, you start thinking and behaving like the character that you’re playing. That’s what happened with me while shooting for ‘Pagglait’,” she said.
-The film will also mark the Bollywood debut of television actor Shruti Sharma.
-As per report, initially, Sayani Gupta was roped in for the lead character.
-The comedy-drama is helmed by Umesh Bist.
-Pagglait went on floors in November 2020, but a delay was imposed due to the lockdown.
-Speaking of her character in the film, Sanya said, “So thrilled to announce this film which is very close to my heart on my special day. I essay the role of Sandhya, a character very different from what I have previously portrayed on-screen. My Pagglait journey was Pagglait indeed- and I can’t wait for the world to witness this unique story very soon."
-Sanya Malhotra picked up her accent in the film from the people “in the vicinity”.
“I used to hear people in the vicinity speaking a certain way (the film was shot in UP). I used to pick up things from those conversations,” she said in an interview.
-After Shakuntala Devi and Ludo, Pagglait would mark Malhotra’s third digital release.
-Pagglait will premiere on 26 March, 2021 on Netflix.
