Oprah Winfrey Upon Facing Backlash For Overweight:
The American talk show host, who has always been a topic of discussion in the headlines of tabloids and magazines for her body, has finally admitted to consuming unspecified weight-loss drugs after a recent press trip she was a part of that prompted speculations as she looked in "better shape."
In the conversation with the magazine, Oprah discussed being exposed to public scrutiny for her body as she said, "It was public sport to make fun of me for 25 years; I have been blamed and shamed, and I blamed and shamed myself."
The Colour Purple star also recalled the time early in her career when she was shamed by a fashion critic Mr Backwell as they described her to be "Dumpy, Frumpy, and Downright Lumpy" criticising Oprah for her body publicly in a magazine cover.
The star revealed how in response to that unsolicited comment, she was not angry but hurt and disappointed and sad, and how she "swallowed the shame" and accepted it was her fault.
Oprah also opened up about blaming herself for being overweight as she shared that she held a predisposition without realisation that told her "that no amount of willpower is going to control".

The 69-year-old celebrity said, "I'm absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself." And revealed that her weight loss journey spectated a turning point when she suffered knee surgery in 2021 which prompted to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
Winfrey also oozed optimism in adapting pharmaceutically prescribed drugs for losing weight and accepting the medical aid instead of hiding and being ashamed of that as she said “The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for.”
Oprah Winfrey Took Everyone Through Her Weight Management Journey:
The global influencer shared how she stopped eating meals after 4 pm as she takes her last meal at 4 and drinks a gallon of water a day. She also shared using WeightWatchers principles of reading weight every day.

The celebrity star also shared her health regime not just including weight-loss drugs but portion-controlling diet plans and exercises which she needed to prove her willpower to lose weight and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Oprah On Weight-Loss Drug Consumption:
Winfrey's revelation of adapting the drug came when there was a buzz around weight-loss drugs like Wegovy and Ozempic having side effects like diarrhoea, nausea, and constipation as they regulate hunger signals allowing consumers to feel full while they eat less.
Winfrey did not reveal the drug she was taking but her approach to using these drugs opened up during a panel discussion in July where she had her "biggest aha moment" that encouraged her to take pharmaceutical aids to manage her weight and emphasised a change in her attitude and reluctance towards consuming such drugs changed as she felt the need to prove her willpower.
