The 28-year-old actor had taken to Instagram and informed fans that she is currently under home quarantine since she has been diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier this month. According to ETimes, Bhatt was quoted saying that she had immediately left the set when her reports came in, and, subsequently, the shoot of Gangubai Kathiawadi was also postponed for ten days at least.
Recently, the Raazi actor also shared health updates mentioning that she is in recovery mode. Sharing a glimpse from her bed, quarantined, Bhatt added a little note in an Instagram post which read, “one day at a time.”
The Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed biographical crime drama recently faced legal trouble as Mumbai’s Mazgaon Court issued summons to the filmmaker and Bhatt in connection to a defamation case filed by Gangubai’s adopted son Babuji Rawji Shah. The latest report also claimed that Bhatt's COVID-19 diagnosis has led the situation to a financial setback for the Gangubai Kathiawadi team as there is just one day of shooting left.
Bhansali had also tested positive for COVID-19, which is why the shoot was halted, a source told SpotboyE. This is a huge "emotional setback" for the project, the source noted adding that even in such a situation Bhansali somehow managed to go to the sets for shooting following through all the guidelines strictly.
The source claimed that after his quarantine period, Bhansali immediately went back to shooting and when they were about to wrap up Bhatt was also tested positive, just one more day of shooting was left in the schedule. The director is now in a distress situation since the crew will have to re-assemble the entire 160-member cast for one more day, the source also stressed the financial setback they are currently facing. The film is based on one of the chapters of S Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai.
Bhatt will next be seen in Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor, directed by Ayan Mukerji and also features Amitabh Bachchan, Dimple Kapadia, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy in lead roles.
