Recent box office failures for Akshay Kumar appear to be having an impact on his next films. The theatrical failures of Bachchan Pandey, Atrangi Re, Raksha Bandhan, Samrat Prithviraj, Ram Setu and Selfiee have led to the makers of OMG 2 rethinking their plan.
This movie, which was directed by Amit Rai, is a spiritual sequel to OMG - Oh My God!, which was released in 2012. According to a number of news websites, the OMG 2 producers have chosen against releasing the movie in theaters and would instead distribute it only on an OTT platform. This information comes from the Twitter account Let'sCinema. The tweet read, “Exclusive: Akshay Kumar’s Oh My God (OMG 2) opts for Direct OTT release via Voot/Jio Cinema."
Akshay Kumar Starrer OMG 2 To Release On OTT:
As soon as this post was shared, reactions erupted in comments, with people mocking Akshay Kumar for his failures and becoming concerned by the box office flops. One user said, "Nice realization. Even Akshay is aware of the end of his career. It's time to relocate permanently to Canada and work as a waiter there." Another person remarked, "BOYCOTT KA DARR... INSAAN KO OTT KA RAASTA DIKHA DETA HAI," quoting the fear of 'boycott,' in reference to the phrase.

Looking at Kumar's last ten movies, three of them—Laxmii, Atrangi Re, and Cutputli—were OTT releases, while of the remaining seven, only Sooryavanshi turned out to be a box office success, and the remaining—Samrat Prithviraj, Bachchhan Pandey, Bell Bottom, Raksha Bandhan, Selfiee, and Ram Setu—were flops.
Since OMG was one of the most well-liked and financially successful movies of 2012, people were expecting that Akshay's sequel may also be a big hit. There is, however, no formal confirmation of the fact that the film will release on OTT. OMG 2 also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Arun Govil, and Yami Gautam in important roles.
In addition to OMG 2, Kumar has the remakes of Soorarai Pottru, Capsule Gill, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Hera Pheri 3 in the works. The actor has also agreed to star in Sky Force, Dinesh Vijan's upcoming action movie. With Mahesh Manjrekar's Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat, Akshay Kumar will also make his Marathi film debut.
