Nikamma, starring Abhimanyu Dassani, Ashik Nihon, Shirley Setia, and Shilpa Shetty, was released today and was one of the year's most anticipated films.
The film shows Adi (Abhimanyu Dasani), an unemployed man, overcoming personal tension with Bhabhi (Shilpa Shetty Kundra), who works at the regional transport office (RTO) and becomes embroiled in a squabble with an MLA about taxi service. A love subplot between Adi and Nikki (Shirley Setia) is also present in the film.
Kundra's return to theatres after a 15-year hiatus following Apne was billed as the film's main attraction. In 2021, her most recent film, Hungama 2, was released on the OTT platform. On the other hand, Dassani made his second theatrical appearance after his 2019 debut, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. He was most recently seen in the Netflix romance comedy Meenakshi Sundareshwar. Meanwhile, the film was especially anticipated because it was Setia's first acting role on the big screen.
Fans were excited to see Shirley Setia, a social media sensation and singer, on the big screen. The singer is already well-known among the youth, and now that she has made her screen debut, many people who have seen the film have expressed their thoughts on her performance. Some of the Twitter reactions to Setia's debut performance are included below.
Nikamma Twitter Review:
A Twitter user wrote, "Shirley Setia is so gorgeous in the movie, really loved her", while another user, Kumar Swayam, wrote that he found Setia cute in the film but that was it, and he wrote, "# Nikama Review: A Disappointing Film, Abhimanyu Dasani was ok in dance & action scenes but not in performance. #ShilpaShetty performs good. #shirleysetia looks cute but that's it." While one user noticed similarities between Setia's character and Geet from Jab We Met, he wrote, "# ShirleySetia: Inspired by # JabWeMet's Geet."
