Nicola Coughlan: Nicola Coughlan, who played dual characters in the Netflix series Bridgerton was recently fat-shamed podcast host who criticised the outfit she wore at the Golden Globes event.
Coughlan appeared on the virtual red carpet of Golden Globes on Sunday and donned a yellow tulle dress made by Molly Goddard and paired it with a short black cardigan. While many praised her look, Amanda Richards, a podcast host, had a different opinion about it.
I thought the cardigan looked ace, Molly Goddard used them on her runway with the dresses that’s where the idea came from, also I have a name

In a tweet, Richards called Coughlan a "fat girl from Bridgerton" and expressed some distasteful comment on her choice of outfit. She wrote, "The fat girl from Bridgerton is wearing a black cardigan at the Golden Globes, bc no matter how hot and stylish you are, if you’re a fat girl there will always be a black cardigan you think about wearing, then decide against, but ultimately wear bc you feel like you have to."
To everyone's surprise, Coughlan did not let it slide and decided to reply to the tweet. While not really getting pissed by being called fat, she said, "I thought the cardigan looked ace, Molly Goddard used them on her runway with the dresses that’s where the idea came from, also I have a name.”

Her reply was well received by users on social media and many applauded her composed reaction. Many users also went on to praise her outfit and especially the black cardigan. Coughlan's show Bridgerton wasn't eligible to get nominated at Golden Globes this year but another very popular British web series The Crown won many awards at Golden Globes on Sunday. According to reports, 44% of Golden Globes awards were won by British actors.
