"My parents have brought me up in such a way that I never saw marriage as a safety net," she told Hindustan Times adding that she grew up in a family that taught her to be independent first and not to be married off just in case "career slowed down for a bit or something didn’t work out."

Desai further added that she likes to live on her own "terms" and she loves her "independence too much" to give it up for marriage right now. She further confessed that not that she is not going to marry at all but in distant future, would consider it again "only if and when someone perfect comes along".

After starring in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai in 2010 and Azhar in 2016, Desai was recently seen as a cop in a digital film based on a murder mystery. She had taken a break from her on-screen appearances and recently said that it was "important for me to reinvent". She said she was looking out for new roles and scripts because "getting repetitive is something I would not enjoy.”

“I particularly don’t have boxes that I have to tick with every role," the Rock On star noted adding that as she started working at a young age and "it was important at some point for me to realise that there is a kind of reinvention required."

“There was a phase in my career when I felt I need to reinvent," the 32-year-old emphasised. The perspective she said came from a belief that she can do something else and not just go by the regular job she has been doing year after and year. She said she started to search for new roles but "it took time for something like Silence…to come my way."
