Zoya Akhtar Wraps Shooting For 'The Archies', Details Inside

 Zoya Akhtar's new venture The Archies has been in buzz for quite a little time. From the cast to the storyline became the talk of the town. Now for the film, it has been wrapped and is soon to release on the OTT platform Netflix. 

The 2023 Netflix project The Archies is based on the popular Archie Comics under Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti's joint production company, Tiger Baby. Zoya Akhtar shared a bunch of photos on her Instagram account announcing the wrap of the shooting. She captioned the photos, "Archieeeeeessssss! Film Wrap. Best Crew. Best Cast. Only Gratitude." Akhtar shared photos in which she is cutting the cake with The Archies cast. 

Netflix Release The Archies

The Archies seems to be a fun-filled adventure with the live Indian versions of Veronica Lodge, Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, and Jughead Jones in the backdrop of Riverdale. The series was announced in 2021, and the star cast was confirmed in November 2021. The Archies series gives the vintage vibe, with the facets of a classic high school sitcom. The show revolves around four friends, Archie Andrews is the main protagonist, and Archie is mostly juggling with two girls in a love triangle. The cinematography and the cinematic feel of the film seem most promising.

The cast includes mostly the star kids such as Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Sridevi's daughter, and others. Earlier the teaser release showed the entire cast including Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, Mihir Ahuja, Vedang Raina, and Yuvraj Menda. The teaser was released on May 14, 2022. 

The first look of the Indian version of Archie Comics characters was welcomed by many people, and the novel perspective was appreciated. However, several people on the internet trolled it for being unappealing or too “Western” for an Indian audience. However given the popularity of the show and the cast it has in, it will be interesting to wait and watch the magic of the show.
